LaLiga warned this Friday that Football is pirated 25% more in Spain than on average in the rest of the countries of the European Union, according to a recent study by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
This percentage refers to the average access per user to sports content through fraud monthlyaccording to a LaLiga statement.
Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, criticized the platforms and large companies that profit from this data. “Appropriate measures are not being takenthere is still a lot of protection from large companies like Google, X or Cloudflare.”
Likewise, the report states that Piracy of sporting events in European territory increased by 36.5% between 2021 and 2023. In July 2024, LaLiga announced that it had reached more than a thousand convictions against hotels, restaurants or cafes that commit audiovisual fraud.
The statement comes one day after announcing a new price increase in certain audiovisual packages to watch football in Spain starting in January 2025.
