The National Police has dismantled in Algeciras, Cadiz, a well-known criminal organization settled in the neighborhood of La Bajadilla, dedicated mainly to drug trafficking, extortion and settling scores. This, furthermore, He even set fire to the home of a rival family clan while its residents slept inside, including four minors.
According to the Provincial Police Station in a statement, the organization had controlled the so-called ‘Cerro’ of La Bajadilla as black spot in drug sales. This activity was carried out from different homes, even establishing shifts for sales and subjecting the sellers to strict control similar to that of a company.
The first phase of the so-called ‘Ramad’ operation detected members of the network on September 15 trying to control the neighborhood and expel those who do not collaborate or participate in their activity. To achieve their objective, they set fire to the home of the rival clan, causing them to remain trapped in the house with serious risk to their livesfinally being evicted and assisted by emergency services.
A police operation was then carried out that culminated in the entry and search of four homes in the neighborhood. We proceeded to arrest of those investigatedamong them the well-known leader of said organization, for crimes of attempted murder, injuries and threats.
According to the Police, the criminal network was also dedicated to extort neighborhood residents through the use of violence and intimidation, even resorting to firearms to make them leave their homes to use them as drug sales points. Thus they expanded their activity throughout the area to completely control the neighborhood.
Drug ‘supermarket’
The second phase of the operation, called ‘Feriante’, made it possible to dismantle on October 31 a “macro” point of sale of drugs of the organization. It was made up of several homes in the neighborhood in which storage, preparation and sale of cocaine and heroin were carried out, using each home for a specific function within the criminal network that acted as an “authentic supermarket” of drugs active 24 hours a day.
The investigation confirmed the existence of up to four different addresses that the tasks of receiving buyers and obtaining money for the effective payment of the doses, their preparation on site and final delivery to consumers.
These functions were carried out by different investigators in a perfectly coordinated manner, each one assuming an established role within the criminal organization, even registering changes in both those involved and the homes used to make police work more difficult.
The leader of the clan used, together with his partner, a family home in the Piñera neighborhood as place of safekeeping and custody of benefits obtained from the illicit activity of drug trafficking. The investigation culminated with the entry and search of six homes, in which 18,000 euros in cash were seized and the place where they were hiding more than 150 grams of high purity was located to later begin cutting and preparing the doses, along with various tools for the preparation and sale of the drug.
Besides, a firearm was seizeda taser gun, several ‘coconut cutter’ type bladed weapons and a large machete. Finally, the arrest of ten responsible for alleged crimes against public health, membership in a criminal organization and illicit possession of weapons, seven of them being admitted to the Botafuegos Penitentiary Center. The National Police does not rule out future arrests.
