The Vuelta will have a finish and a start in Andorra

Andorra la VellaThe Return to Spain 2025 it will happen by Seu d’Urgell for a double game. As already happened in the 2023 edition, the Spanish cycling round will include a goal and a departure in Andorra and this will make the participants cross the Alt Urgell in two consecutive stages, on the 28th and 29th of August. The organization presented this Thursday the complete route, which will basically run through the north of the peninsula but will have an unprecedented start further north: the first four stages will be contested in the Alps, mainly in Piedmontand the initial departure will be from the Piedmontese capital, Turin.

According to RadioSeu, the Pyrenean days will begin on August 27 with a time trial with departure and arrival in Figueres. the next day, Thursday, August 28, the sixth stage will come out from Olot and will pass through the Collada de Santigosa (3rd category)Ripoll, Ribes de Freser and the Collada de Toses (1,790 m, 1st category)through which cyclists will enter Cerdanya and cross towns such as Alp, Bellver and Martinet before passing through Alàs and la Seu. From the Urgellan capital they will take the N-145 to enter Andorra, where they will go up to the port de la Comella (1,347 m, 2nd category) and finally they will pass through Massana before arriving at the uphill finish located at the ski and mountain resort of Pal (1,902 m, 1st category). In total, 171 kilometers.

the next day, Friday August 29, the seventh stage will come out from Andorra la Vella. Right after they will go down to La Seu d’Urgell and pass through Castellciutat, Montferrer and Adrall before facing the Puerto del Cantó (1,724 m, 1st category)from where they will go down to Sort and continue through Pobla de Segur. From there they will go up towards the Creu de Perves port (1,334 m, 2nd category) and, after passing the Pont de Suert, they will enter the Aragonese Ribagorça to overcome another second grade pass, that of l’Espina (1,400 m). In the final stretch, they will cross Castillo de Sos and Benasc until they reach the finish line the Cerler ski resort (1,900 m, 1st category). A slightly greater distance than the previous day: 187 km.

In this way, the cyclists will already leave the Pyrenees because the eighth stage, on the 30th, will leave Montsó and end in Zaragoza, while the ninth will reach the ski resort of Valdezcaray, in La Rioja. After a day of rest, it will return to the Pyrenees for the Belagua finish, in Navarre. The rest of the stages will pass through places such as Bilbao, Laredo, the demanding Angliru pass, Avilés, Monforte de Lemos, Ponferrada, Valladolid, Rueda and, in the penultimate stage (September 13), the port of Navacerrada, special category The final goal will be the following day, September 14, in Madrid.

Start in Piedmont

As for this year’s unusual start, the first stage (August 23) will leave from Turin and end in Novaranear Milan. The second will run through the south of Piedmont, between Alba and Limone. The third, on the other hand, will be fully alpine and will go from San Maurizio Canavese to Ceres, above the Turin area. The same will happen with the fourth day (August 26), which will leave from Susa – near the Italian-French border – and will cross the Savoy Alps to reach Voiron, after passing through the Lautaret pass (2,059 m) and by Grenoble. Then the macro event will move directly to Catalonia for the time trial in Figueres.
