Maritime Rescue this Thursday rescued 73 migrants from three boats in Alicante. The boats have been located in different areas of the province’s coast, according to sources from this organization.
The first intervention was carried out at 4:00 a.m. by Salvamar Leo. A French Frontex plane warned of the presence of a precarious vesselwith thirteen North African men, 96 nautical miles from the Alicante coast.
The occupants of this boat disembarked at 7:50 a.m. in the port of Alicante and the emergency has been coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Center in Valencia. These rescued They have been assisted by the Red Cross upon arriving at the port from the Alicante capital and two have had to be transferred to the Hospital General of Alicante, one of them for presenting a trauma to the knee and the other for a respiratory pathology.
The other two interventions were carried out during the morning by Salvamar Diphda. The operations have occurred almost consecutivelyaccording to sources from Maritime Rescue.
In one of them, 47 people have been helped, including a 12-year-old girlwhen they were sailing in a boat 4.8 miles southeast of Punta de la Escaleta, in Benidorm. In the other boat, thirteen migrants, all men, have been rescued from a boat spotted 3.5 miles away, practically from the same position.
Of the occupants of the boat located near Punta de la Escaleta, one of them, has been evacuated to a hospital with acute pain derived from a recent surgical intervention carried out in his country of origin.
